To our Heidi and Peter patrons, an update from R. John Wright:

We are pleased to announce that "Grandfather" will join Heidi and Peter in the R. John Wright HEIDI COLLECTION based on the immortal book written by Johanna Spyri.

Grandfather will stand approximately 24" tall - the largest doll we have ever produced and the exact scale to compliment the previously-released Heidi and Peter dolls. Grandfather will be fully jointed including knees and constructed of the finest all wool felt with a unique molded character face with hand painted features, a mohair wig and beard, and felt hands with individual fingers.

Grandfather's authentically detailed removeable Swiss costume will consist of: a peasant shirt; knee-length trousers with suspenders; tailored, fully-lined felt jacket with pewter buttons; custom-woven kneesox; hand cobbled leather tie shoes; and a Tyrolean-style hat. In one hand Grandfather will hold a beautifully carved custom wood pipe.

Grandfather will come complete with a rustic handcrafted wooden bench. When seated, he will measure 17." Grandfather will be produced in a limited edition of just 250 pieces worldwide and will come enclosed in a deluxe RJW presentation box along with the accompanying signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration. Don't miss out on this very desirable item. As part of the HEIDI COLLECTION, matching numbers will be offered subject to availability to previous pieces in the series.

In the year 2000, we introduced an exclusive limited edition of "Heidi" from the classic book by Johanna Spyri of life in the Swiss Alps. Heidi was featured on the cover of Dolls magazine and was acclaimed as one of the most captivating child dolls of the year. Made as an exclusive edition for Little Switzerland Dolls in Huntington, New York, Heidi is fully jointed and made entirely of the finest all-wool felt.  Measuring 17 1/2" in height, Heidi features a hand-knotted mohair wig, delicately hand-painted facial features, and charming period costume. Her hands have separate fingers. All body parts are lined with cotton. Her peasant costume consists of a felt skirt, muslin blouse, embroidered felt laced bodice, cotton apron, sox and hand cobbled boots. A garland of individual felt flowers encircles her head. In her arms she holds Snowflake. Snowflake, a newborn baby goat, is made of mohair plush with embroidered features, glass eyes, felt horns and hooves, a jointed neck, leather collar and brass bell.

Due to the success of Heidi, we received many requests to produce her companion, "Peter the Goatherd". Standing 18 1⁄2" tall, Peter is also constructed of high quality all wool felt with fine hand painted features and a mohair wig. Fully jointed, he premieres a new face with molded ears and his hands and bare feet are also artfully molded with sculptural detail. Peter's period costume consists of a rustic shirt, felt lederhosen, hat and jacket, and custom-made leather satchel. Inside is the lunch of felt bread and cheese, which he will share with Heidi on the mountain! Accompanying Peter is his faithful billy goat "Turk." This handsome creature is made of mohair plush with a jointed neck, realistic coloring, felt horns and hoofs, glass eyes, and a leather collar.

Like Heidi, Peter the Goatherd is a very limited edition. Each doll is individually numbered and provided with a corresponding signed certificate of authenticity. Registration is provided in the owner's name. Matching numbers to Heidi are offered subject to availability. Peter's price is $1,850.00 and he is available exclusively through Little Switzerland Dolls. For further information please contact:

In the event that you have not already ordered a Peter to match your Heidi, there are still some pieces available. We look forward to hearing from you.
